“At the heart of catechesis we find, in essence, a Person, the Person of Jesus of Nazareth, the only Son from the Father…who suffered and died for us and who now, after rising, is living with us forever.” (Catechism paragraph 462).
Everything we teach as catechists comes back to this essential point of the personhood of Christ and our relationship with Him. It is not our teachings we teach, it is the teachings of Christ that are rooted in the Gospels.
Most importantly, the Faith is first instilled and passed on in the home by parents, who by nature have the primary role as educators and teachers of the faith. In the home children are formed in virtue and weekly Sunday mass and prayer is a priority.
